Made a reservation for family and friends for my daughter's HS graduation celebration. We were seated promptly. Food was excellent across the board - I've got several picky eaters in my family and there was something for everyone. All dishes came out quickly after ordering. The decor in the restaurant is really cool, and its midtown location is excellent (though parking was a challenge). The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant were on point. Bill was less than I expected for our group size. We will definitely be coming back.

This is their second location. And I think this one by far beats the first one. Ordered the Chinese Staples: Beef Chow Fun 4/5 Garlic Green Beans 4/6 Peking Duck - 5/5 Soup Dumplings 4/5 Service was great and we sat outside for a nice evening dinner. The highlight was at peking duck because it comes with the crepes to wrap the duck. Not a lot of places in Sacramento seem to serve peking with crepes.. Midtown has a lot of choices in good, but if you're craving some good Chinese food, this is the place.

I was in the area with a group of people from work and this restaurant came recommended. We didn't have reservations and we were able to snag the last table large enough to seat our party of 5 outside. Good service and great food. Really happy we gave this place a try and would return if in the area.

Took me awhile to get around to checking this spot out because of mixed reviews from everyone, but I'm so happy I finally checked it out! Each part of the meal that came out was back to back delicious, the only thing I would change is getting chicken in the garlic noodles, I would just order without. I would also order more next time. Service was great and my server was patient while we figured out what we wanted to order. I can't wait to come back!

I am a convert. When we drove by this restaurant on our way to Temple Coffee one night, my friend saw the neon decor and trendy interior, and then joked that we should eat there, knowing that I would protest (his favorite restaurants are Red Robin and Olive Garden, and I like hole-in-the-wall places.) However, after eating the perfect poor xlb, mushroom baos, walnut prawns, garlic green beans, and beef noodle soup, I also have to eat my words. Everything was delicious.

So glad they now have a location in midtown! Parking was surprisingly easy for a weekend lunch. Food was delish and service was great. The Singapore noodles were different from the norm and so good!

The place has cool interiors. The food came pretty fast. We got: - Garlic noodles with chicken: 4/5 the chicken cuts were tender; however, there was not enough garlicky taste - Stirred fried green beans: 5/5 hard to go wrong and you got veggies on the table - Biang Biang Noodles Soup: not what I was expecting. I don't know how to judge because I never have it before. It reminds me of sweet and sour soups - Wontons with chili oils: 5/5 yummy Portion size was great. I would come back again.

What a fantastic Chinese restaurant nestled in Midtown. Earlier today, my friend and I decided to swing by Journey to the Dumpling, and let's just say, we were more than happy with our decision. Better yet, we loved it! The restaurant had a modern, bright and clean vibe, which I really appreciated. Plus, the service and food weren't too bad! Our server, Danny, was personable, knowledgeable and incredibly thorough with his service. He gave the right amount of recommendations, in addition to being very proactive and attentive with our dining experience. He checked in on us more than a few times - not too much and not too little. Plus, he definitely made us feel at home and was a fantastic conversationalist. We ordered more than a few dishes this afternoon and they were all fantastic. I'd say the roasted duck was my absolute favorite. The cucumber salad was a close second. Each dish had a ton of meat, which was a nice surprise, and they were very generous with their portion sizes. Typically, roast duck can be hit or miss, but Journey to the Dumpling definitely didn't skimp on us! Even the Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs were super juicy, tender and meaty. Overall, I'll definitely come back to Journey to the Dumpling - Midtown. This place was really good and I'm already penciling in my next visit!

This is a really popular local spot for Chinese food. This is the newer location in downtown. It's more up-to-date, prettier, and more crowded than the OG location. The dumplings are delicious, but so are the a la carte dishes! There is almost always a line to eat here, so beware! The menu is extensive. There are so many items to choose from! The pork XLB is a must. They serve it in the bamboo steamers. I was able to try so many because it's family-style and I had six people in my group. The service is attentive. I felt like everyone was very friendly. It definitely gets loud in here because it's a big space with high ceilings. There are bathrooms in the back. The parking around here is hard to find. It's free on the street unless marked by signs or meters.

My friend and I visited Journey to the Dumpling - Midtown on Friday, 3/15/24, for dinner. We were able to place ourselves on the Yelp Waitlist at 6 PM. We successfully got seated around 7:15 PM. The hostesses were nice with welcoming us inside. As far as the appetizer, we tried the Peking Spare Ribs. The ribs were extremely flavorful. I truly enjoyed the taste of the sauce. For the dumplings, we decided to get the Siu Mai and Xiao Long Bao (with Crab & Pork). Both of the dumplings were spot on! I favored the Xiao Long Bao slightly more due to the deliciousness of the soup broth. The inside of the restaurant was lively, especially with all of the beautiful lights. It had such a spectacular atmosphere to have a wonderful dining experience. The server was hospitable and friendly. However, the attentiveness of the service was a tad lackluster. The server took a while to greet us at the table and bring soft drink refills. Overall, Journey to the Dumpling serves phenomenally delicious food. This restaurant is worth checking out.
